At the end of season 5 of the hit series Mad Men, advertising genius Don Draper is overseeing a hive of activity as the agency competes to pitch for Jaguar.  Don takes an E-type for a spin around New York and it’s love at first sight. So we got to thinking about which are the most beautiful cars ever – with over a century worth of designs, it’s difficult to pick, but here are a few of the most stunning cars ever:

1931 Duesenberg Model J Long Wheelbase Coupe

It has the feel of a luxuriant European car, but this graceful model is all American. Debuting at the New York Car Show in 1928, in hindsight the grandeur and extravagance of a car that costs close to 10 times the average yearly salary of a doctor seems wildly lavish. But it was the last hurrah of the roaring 20s personified by indulgent folly. An interesting point of interest about this car is that it had such cultural resonance as to contribute the phrase “It’s a Duesy,” which today is often written as “It’s a doozy.”
